Piano Tuning Connecticut CT Pianos Rent Stamford

Tuning only refers to pulling strings into their proper pitch to maintain even tension on the soundboard and bridges. Besides Tuning, the mechanism (action) of the piano has to be periodically regulated and readjusted to keep the piano working for a long time and to even the repetition and response of the keys, pedals, dampers and all other moving parts of the piano.

Most manufacturers suggest piano regulation and voicing at least every 2-3 years.

Starting Regulation cost for upright pianos $850

Baby Grand Piano Regulation Starting $ 1,250

No matter how clean your home is, dust and felt particles will accumulate under the keys and in the mechanism because the piano mechanism is made up of mostly wood and felt parts which naturally break down over time.

It is a good idea to have the piano cleaned out and strings polished and conditioned every 2-3 years

Agitating built-up dust can cause allergies and irritate airways.

Piano Action Regulation Should be done after the first year on new pianos because of new felt and wood material break-in period and general acclimatization

The regulation of your piano action is done in two parts:

Phase I: Removal of the action as you can see in the picture on the right. In grand pianos, the mechanism simply slides out once side blocks, key slip rail and fallboard are removed

Once removed from the piano, the action mechanism is brought back to our piano restoration facility at 46-50 Magee Ave. where we have the proper lighting and equipment to take the mechanism apart and restore all the factory parameters and customize the touch and response to your specifications.

Piano Action Regulation
Phase II: Installation, cleaning of the soundboard, conditioning of the strings, cleaing on the inside rim, key bed and pedal/damper mechanism, polising pedals and a total detailing inside and outside of the piano, then finally, piano tuning. Typically phase two is done as a team of two technicians and if done efficiently can be performed within 3-6 hours, depending on the complexity of the instrument
